    Our staff has extensive experience of working on electrical and control equipment in hydro-, geothermal and diesel-operated power plants.  This includes laying and connecting high and low voltage cables.  We also handle other sectors of a typical power-plant deployment, such as high- and low voltage systems, AC or DC, control equipment, protection relay equipment, fiber optic and other telecommunication equipment, and other systems generally used in any power plant.

    Since 2009 Rafal has manufactured and delivered over 500 power- and distribution transformers. We have handled failure analysis, maintenance and repair of power- and distribution transformers since 1994 and therefore we have considerable experience and knowledge in the manufacturing and maintaining of transformers.

    Transformer Repair

    Since 1994 Rafal has handled fault analysis, maintenance and repair of a large number of power- and distribution transformers.

    In order for an oil-filled transformer to work properly the oil used for insulation in the transformer needs to fulfil certain standards.  A correct quality grade of oil can easily duplicate the lifetime of any transformer.  To fulfil customers' needs,   Rafal uses state of the art equipment to analyze and clean transformer oil, a task which in many cases is very economical for the owner of a transformer.

    If the status of a transformer is beyond repair, Rafal takes offers the relevant disposal services for the transformer itself, the oil and any other material which needs to be disposed of.

    Fiber Optics

    A fiber optic cable is used for electronic data transfer, such as Internet, telephone, TV and radio broadcast.  Fiber optic cables have the fastest transfer rate available today, contrary to older technique, copper and microwave.

    Rafal owns the necessary blowing equipment that can handle different sizes of fiber optic cable, blown through ducts of various diameter.  The company also owns state of the art splicing machines and OTDR measuring equipment.

    Rafal's staff has long experience from installing and maintaining high- and low-voltage equipment in the substations of the Icelandic Power Grid.

    The company installs circuit breakers, voltage- and current measuring transformers, lightning protectors, power transformers and other facilities of a typical substation.  Installation and maintenance of control equipment, protective relays are also within Rafal's capabilities.

    MEASURING ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS

    Electromagnetic contamination can develop from an uneven load or current flow in the cable connecting a building to a power grid.  It is possible to measure the electromagnetic field that occur from such mismatches.

    Rafal owns a state of the art meter (NARDA ETL 400) to measure electromagnetic fields.
